Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna has commended the local government units (LGUs) involved in maintaining the cleanliness of the nation’s capital, citing their consistent efforts to preserve the city’s long-standing tradition of hygiene and order.
Since assuming office in 2022, one of Lacuna’s earliest priorities was institutionalizing a citywide cleanup campaign—her first Executive Order focused on launching systematic cleaning operations across Manila, beginning at City Hall and extending to the barangays.
These efforts include regular flushing and mopping operations aimed at removing deep-seated dirt, ultimately making the city’s maintenance and cleaning efforts more efficient.
Mayor Lacuna also called on residents to contribute to the initiative by keeping their surroundings clean at all times.
“Patuloy ang tulong-tulong na paglilinis ng pamahalaang-lungsod sa mga lugar sa Maynila upang mapanatili ang kalinisan at kaayusan sa lungsod. Tuloy-tuloy ang paglilinis kahit Sabado para sa ating pamahalaang lungsod sa pangunguna ng Department of Engineering and Public Works,” said Lacuna.
She further noted: “Bukod sa pagsasaayos ng paving bricks ng Plaza Sta. Cruz at pagpipintura at paglinis ng perimeter fence ng Plaza Goiti, patuloy din ang pagsasaayos ng McArthur Monument sa McArthur Bridge sa Ermita ng pamahalaang-lungsod ng Maynila sa pangunguna ng DEPW.”
The city government’s intensified cleanup and rehabilitation activities continue to be carried out throughout the week, including weekends, with the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) leading the operations.
